Who came up with Chicken and Waffles? I mean, was it an accident or did someone’s Grandmother in Alabama need to get rid of the left over breakfast waffles and made her grandchilden just eat it all together… IDK

That’s the only explanation that makes sense to me…

Regardless, Chicken and Waffles has become a dish for fine dining as well as a pick-up window favorite. And so, why should KFC sit this one out…

Per usual, I couldn’t resist the urge to try their newest promotion. Even knowing I would pay for all of the processed-food-pain I would experience thereafter. But surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad…

KFC is offering Chicken and Waffles in 4 ways: 3 piece tenders and waffles; thigh, leg and waffles; breast and waffles or a variety of sandwich combos. I got the 3 piece tenders and waffles…

So I also try to rationalize eating KFC as not really eating fast food… Because it’s real chicken. Then I remember it’s FRIED chicken and all bets are off. And there’s a Dr. Pepper too… Fully off the wagon…

Back to, “Surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad…”

I feel like the reason I’m having no trouble with Chicken and Waffles at KFC is because I have trouble with Chicken and Waffles at fine dining restaurants. It just seems to be more of a staple than a Chef’s special.

With that said, I found the combination to be just as good as the Chicken and Waffles I’ve had sitting at a white table cloth.

Maybe the secret to its success is to keep it simple in places like KFC and make it something like… TARRAGON FRIED CHICKEN WITH VANILLA BEAN WAFFLES DRIZZLED WITH STRAWBERRY SAUCE… Yeah… that’s the difference…

So have Chicken and Waffles at KFC. You won’t pay $20.00 for it and it’ll be as good as basic Chicken and Waffles gets.

Now if I can just get Five Guys to offer wheat buns instead of white…
