Story: Written and directed by Bong Joon-ho, it is creative. In this time of reboots, remakes and throwbacks, it’s nice to see an original story with such a creative bent. My thought is that as we see more work from this director, we’ll get his pattern. But for now, this is just a truly refreshing departure from all things re-do…

Performances: This is very much an ensemble cast. And a cast with which we are not familiar. The end result for this one is a blanket, strong delivery, for the entire cast. Can’t single out anyone as outstanding, but can call them all out as better than average.

Visual: The scenery is stunning. Vivid. From what looked like the slums of Korea to the most posh contemporary home, the film has an extremely dramatic look.

Rating: Though Parasite won the Academy Award for best picture, it is not my choice for best picture this year. Another foreign language film has that distinction. See the movie review section for the answer…

But I am giving Parasite an A- for all of the reasons mentioned above. I’ve had a few people say to me that it had so many twists and turns. I didn’t see that; I did see a film with layers and different elements.
